Nature Journalling workshop on the Isle of Harris: Slow Down, Observe & Create at The Galerie
There’s something deeply restorative about taking a notebook into nature and simply noticing. The shifting light across the machair, the texture of weathered rocks, the movement of grasses in the wind, and the quiet rhythm of the sea around Harris — these small moments often become the beginning of creativity.
On 30th May, a special Nature Journalling Workshop will take place at The Galerie by Margaret Soraya on the Isle of Harris. This offers a gentle and inspiring day of creativity, observation and connection with the landscape.

What is Nature Journalling?
Nature journaling is not about creating perfect drawings or polished artwork. It’s about paying attention and just being in nature. Using a combination of words, sketches, colour, texture and observation, nature journalling helps you slow down and engage more deeply with the world around you. Many people find it relaxing, grounding, and creatively freeing, whether they are experienced artists or complete beginners. Workshops around the UK increasingly use nature journalling as a way to support wellbeing, mindfulness and creative confidence. Sessions often combine walking, sketching, reflective writing and quiet observation in natural settings.
