The third Creative Light Festival is set to take place in my hometown of Tarbert on the Isle of Harris from October 5-8, 2025. This event promises an exciting mix of guided photography walks, creative workshops, and talks from local artists and photographers. Attendees can enjoy highlights such as a Ceilidh dance, immersive creative sessions, and excursions to stunning locations, creating a deep connection with the island’s landscapes and culture.
We’re thrilled to welcome talented island photographers, including Mhairi Law, owner of the Island Darkroom, who focuses on medium-format film and the visual bonds between cultures and their environments. Former Buzzcocks drummer turned photographer John Maher captures the Hebridean landscapes with long-exposure techniques and innovative lighting. Alister Benn, a professional landscape photographer, advocates for creative expression and engaging with the landscape free from conventional constraints.
Currently, about eight tickets remain, with accommodation available at Hotel Hebrides or other locations on the island. Most events will take place in Tarbert, with catering provided by the Harris Hotel and talks held at the Tarbert community centre.
