Isle of Harris Long Exposure Seascape Photography Workshop — February 2026
I’m excited to share more about my Isle of Harris long exposure seascape photography workshop, taking place 18–24 February 2026. This is a one-off workshop designed for photographers who want time, space, and guidance to develop their creativity in one of the most inspiring coastal landscapes in Scotland.

Why a photography workshop on the Isle of Harris?
The Isle of Harris is a remarkable place for a photography workshop. Its coastline offers endless opportunities for seascape photography: turquoise bays, dramatic Atlantic swell, white beaches, and constantly shifting weather. In February, the island is quiet and atmospheric, giving us the freedom to explore and photograph without distractions. I’ve been photographing the Isle of Harris for more than 16 years, and now live in Geocrab. Over the years, I’ve learned how to work with the island’s tides, wind, weather patterns, and changing light — all of which are central to successful seascape photography. This workshop is built around sharing that knowledge with you.
What this photography workshop focuses on
This is a seascape photography workshop with a strong emphasis on long exposure techniques.
You’ll learn how to:
-
use filters effectively for long exposure seascapes
-
compose coastal scenes with clarity and intention
-
read the sea, waves, and light
-
work calmly with fast-changing conditions
-
build a slower, more thoughtful photography practice
Whether you’re new to long exposures or simply want to strengthen your seascape photography, the workshop is designed to support you at your own level. If, however, you prefer to come along and do your own thing, that is absolutely fine – many people come along without a camera at all – with a phone, a notebook or a sketchbook amd really enjoy the week.
The pace and structure of the week
The workshop will run at a gentle, flexible pace. Each day on the Isle of Harris depends on the weather, sea state, and tide times — all essential elements of coastal and seascape photography. We’ll head outdoors when conditions are good, and move indoors for teaching, editing, or discussions when the weather turns. This photography workshop is not about rushing from one location to the next. It’s about slowing down, observing, and making meaningful images rather than collecting as many shots as possible.
